Brief Biology:

Eastern Mole can be found from the Atlantic to the Rockies and Canada to Florida.  This Mole is the most destructive.  Moles have one litter each year.  Litter size can be up to six.  Moles are six to eight inches in length and can weigh about 3-6 ounces.  Young moles will branch from mother tunnels to create their own tunnel system from late April through mid June.  Moles food source are worms and other insects.  Moles surface tunneling can be dug approximately 18 feet per hour.

Treatment Methods:

First, you need to make sure the runway is active.  Puncture 1/2 hole into the runway (do not crush the runway), come back 72 hours later.  If runway is resealed, then it is active and needs to be baited.  Make a hole in the runway slightly larger than the diameter of the bait.  Use the rod to push baits completely into the hole.  Carefully seal the hole with dirt to keep out sunlight.  Place bait every 5-10 feet of each active subsurface runway.  5-7 days after bait application, Check for mole activity again.  Determine if runway is active.  Retreat if necessary.

How to Get Rid of Moles
Step 1:
Identify that there is a mole infestation.  You usually see "runways" or burrows of raised soil.

Step 2:
Check to see if the mole runways are active.
Mole Image 3: Insert your finger into a burrow approximately 3 inches.  Re-check in 72 hours, if resealed burrow is active.
Step 3:
If runways are active, Mole Control using Talpirid:  place one worm every 5 to 10 feet apart in active runways.
Step 4:
Re-check runways in 5-7 days to see if runways that were treated are active.  Retreat if necessary
